DEFINITION
A word that sounds like what something actually is. 

EXAMPLE
Buzz
Splat
Ring

SIGNIFICANT
Onomatopoeia helps a poem become more exciting. Since poems are supposed to be recited out loud with tone and rhythm, onomatopoeia can brings an exciting and sometimes surprisingly atmosphere and feeling to the poem. A poem can sounds very natural with onomatopoeia words in it.
